If you search for Jet Reports pricing, you will find plenty of numbers and very few sources. The reason is simple: insightsoftware does not publish a price list. This guide explains what you are actually paying for, what Business Central already gives you, and the questions that get you a quote you can compare.

Why there is no public price
insightsoftware's own Jet Reports page invites you to get a demo rather than showing a price, and its Jet Analytics page asks you to request pricing. Treat any exact figure you see elsewhere as a guess until it is in a written quote for your own team.
That is normal for business software sold through partners. The price depends on how many people use it, what they do with it, and how much setup and support you buy.

Key PointKey point: A price without a scope is meaningless. Two quotes only compare when they cover the same users, the same reports and the same support.
What you are paying for
Break the cost into three parts before you talk to anyone:
- Licences. Ask who needs a licence to build reports and who only needs to run or view them, as the answer changes the total a lot.
- Setup. Installing the add-in, connecting it to Business Central, setting up security and building your first reports is usually a separate piece of work. Ask for it as a fixed quote.
- Support and change. Reports need maintaining as your chart of accounts and structure change. Decide whether you will do that in-house or buy support.
Our article on what Jet Reports does and what it costs covers the same three parts in more detail.
What Business Central already includes
Before you budget for any add-in, check what your Business Central licence already covers. Microsoft's Business Central pricing page lists finance management in both the Essentials and Premium plans.
Business Central also has Excel built in. Microsoft's guide to working with Excel from Business Central describes Open in Excel and Edit in Excel, and notes that its Financial Reporting feature can use Excel templates.

Pro TipPro tip: List the five reports you produce every month and mark which ones the built-in tools already handle. You only need to pay for the gap.
Questions to ask for a quote
- Which of our users need to build reports, and which only run them?
- What is included in setup, and is it a fixed price?
- What does support cover after each Business Central update?
- How would the cost change if we add a company or more users next year?
If you are also weighing Power BI, our guide to Power BI for Business Central sets out where each tool fits.

Watch OutWatch out: Ask for the licence, setup and support costs in writing for the same number of users before you compare tools. A cheaper licence can be the more expensive project.
